  On Tuesday, June 4, Archbishop Gregory J. Hartmayer, OFM Conv., was elected to a three-year term as chairman of the board of the National Catholic Educational Association (NCEA).

  Bernard Edward (Bill) Shlesinger Jr. of Mount Vernon, Virginia, the father of Bishop Shlesinger of Atlanta, died on Oct. 25. He was 96 years old.
