Archbishop Hartmayer expresses condolences upon death of Dr. Charles Stanley

ATLANTA—Dr. Charles F. Stanley, who served as senior pastor of First Baptist Church of Atlanta for 50 years, died April 18. Archbishop Gregory J. Hartmayer, OFM Conv., offered the following statement of condolence for the community at large:
“Dr. Charles Stanley was an Atlanta icon among evangelical preachers. He engaged his television congregation by presenting the Scriptures in an understanding way alway with a challenge to live a better life. He had a unique style of preaching, which kept his audience’s attention. He will be truly missed by people of a variety of denominations especially the Southern Baptist community. He founded In Touch Ministries, which will continue to serve as an inspiration to his followers for many years to come.”
