Published May 18, 2017

MARIETTA—The Bishop Charles P. Greco Assembly #2161 of the Knights of Columbus will have a Memorial Day Mass at the Marietta National Cemetery Monday, May 29, at 9 a.m.

Archbishop Wilton D. Gregory will celebrate Mass for the more than 17,000 fallen warriors laid to rest at the cemetery, located at 500 Washington Avenue in Marietta.

The Bishop Charles P. Greco Assembly represents Knights of Columbus Councils from Holy Family Church, St. Ann Church, St. Joseph Church in Marietta and St. Thomas the Apostle in Smyrna.

A contingent of a dozen Knights of the Fourth Degree—the highest ranking, or “Patriotic” level of the order—will escort the archbishop to the cemetery’s marble-columned rostrum. Four other members will form a color guard and post the colors for the national anthem.

The Note-able Knights of St. Ann Church will stand at attention during the Mass. Accompanied on keyboard, the Note-able Knights will lead those attending in the singing of hymns including Psalm 23 and “How Great Thou Art.” A trumpeter will perform taps. The program concludes with the singing of “God Bless America.”
