Catholic Charismatic Renewal Celebration

Published February 16, 2012

The 45th anniversary celebration of the Catholic Charismatic Renewal will be held at Corpus Christi Church, 600 Mountain View Drive, Stone Mountain, on Saturday, Feb. 18.

Father Tim Hepburn will be the principal celebrant and Father Guyma Noel will concelebrate with other clergy.  Everyone is welcome to attend.

Praise and worship will begin at 7 p.m. and Mass will be celebrated at 7:30 p.m. Prayer teams open to gifts of healing and prophecy will be available at 8:30 p.m. to pray with anyone seeking individual prayer. Refreshments will be provided after Mass.

The Catholic Charismatic Renewal as it exists today is the outgrowth from a retreat held from Feb. 17 to 19, 1967, by several faculty members and students from Duquesne University, a Catholic university in Pittsburgh operated by the Congregation of the Holy Spirit. The participants’ lives changed from this retreat and as they later prayed with others and witnessed to God’s acts in their midst, more and more experienced this renewal in the Holy Spirit.
