Last month during a ceremony at Chicago Bears Halas Hall, Holy Spirit Preparatory School senior Mike Agrippina received Sports Faith International’s highest honor from Chicago Bears’ co-owner and Sports Faith International chairman Patrick McCaskey. Agrippina was inducted into All Star Catholic High School Hall of Fame as the 2011 Male Athlete of the Year. Sports Faith International inductees are “selected on the basis of outstanding athleticism, academics, and exemplary behavior.”

Some of the other 10 inductees into the Sports Faith Hall included Pittsburgh Steelers owner Art Rooney, Major League baseball pitcher Jamie Moyer and Belmont Abbey College president and a two-time University of Maryland All-American high jumper, Dr. Bill Thierfelder. Katie Rodden, a cross country runner from Archbishop John Carroll High School, Radnor, Pa., was inducted as the Female Athlete of the Year.

Agrippina, who maintains a 4.53 GPA, was his basketball team’s captain and chaplain. He has led his team in points and rebounds for three straight years. He also serves as president of the school’s National Honor Society and Battalion Commander of the Joint Forces Corps of Cadets.

The Sports Faith Hall of Fame was created in 2008 by Sports Faith International to recognize world-class athletes who are known for outstanding dedication to sports and their faith.
