Marist School cruised to its third consecutive victory with a 39-13 win over Carver Atlanta High School Sept. 24. Marist scored 32 of its 39 points in the first half; consequently, they did not have to rely solely on the foot of their kicker Austin Hardin. In the Sept. 17 game against Southwest DeKalb, Hardin kicked a 59-yard field goal with three seconds remaining in the game for a 17-14 win. The field goal ties two others for the third-longest field goal in state history, but it stands alone as the longest winning field goal in Georgia high school history. Marist School (4-1) is idle until they go on the road Oct. 8 to face Lakeside DeKalb High School.

St. Pius X High School, Atlanta, pushed its record to 4-1 with a 21-0 win over a previously undefeated North Atlanta High School team. Pius junior fullback Logan Rosborough led the offense with 21 carries for 103 yards and one touchdown. The defense was led by senior linebacker Jack Marsau who recorded 14 tackles, one sack and one interception, and junior linebacker T.J. Holloman who had four tackles and three interceptions. After three straight games on the road, St. Pius returns home to face Riverwood High School, Friday, Oct. 1.

Our Lady of Mercy High School, Fayetteville, was off Sept. 24, but remains the only undefeated team among Atlanta area Catholic high schools at 4-0. Mercy will travel to Macon to take on First Presbyterian Day School Oct. 1. With its best start in school history, the Mercy offense is ranked fifth in the state for Class A. In its four games the team has scored 167 points. As a team Mercy only scored 113 points during the entire 2009 season.

Blessed Trinity High School, Roswell, lost its first game of the season in a 31-17 loss to Greater Atlanta Christian (GAC) High School. In its previous two games Blessed Trinity had averaged 250 yards rushing, but the GAC defense held them to a season low 100 yards. Blessed Trinity (3-1) goes on the road to take on The Westminster School, Friday, Oct. 1.
