Seniors at the seven Catholic high schools in the Atlanta Archdiocese are preparing for graduation ceremonies. Hundreds of seniors at the archdiocesan, private and independent Catholic schools will walk in caps and gowns to conclude their high school years.

St. Pius X High School, Atlanta, will hold its graduation ceremony on Saturday, May 16, at 9:30 a.m., at Symphony Hall, 1280 Peachtree St., Atlanta. The valedictorian is Joseph Hickey, who worships at St. Marguerite D’Youville Church, Lawrenceville, and the salutatorian is Alexandra Mendez, who worships at St. Thomas More Church, Decatur. The guest speaker at graduation is Maj. Matthew Shortal, St. Pius X High School class of 1990, an Air Force pilot formerly with the Blue Angels.

Monsignor Donovan High School, Athens, will hold its graduation ceremony on Saturday, May 16, at 2 p.m., at the high school, 590 Lavender Road, Athens.The valedictorian is Ian E. Dunne, and the salutatorian is Margaret C. Story. Both students worship at St. Joseph Church in Athens.

Blessed Trinity High School, Roswell, will also hold its graduation ceremony on Saturday, May 16, at 2 p.m., at the high school, 11320 Woodstock Road, Roswell. The valedictorian is Jorge G. Rossello, who worships at Transfiguration Church, Marietta, and the salutatorian is Susan L. Davies, who worships at St. Ann Church, Marietta. The guest speaker at graduation will be the archdiocesan superintendent of Catholic schools, Diane Starkovich.

Our Lady of Mercy High School, Fairburn, will hold graduation exercises on Saturday evening, May 16, at 6 p.m., at the school, 861 Highway 279 (Evander Holyfield Highway), Fairburn. The valedictorian is Michael L. Rice, who worships at North Fayette United Methodist Church, and the salutatorian is Sarah R. Hohenberger, who worships at Holy Trinity Church, Peachtree City. Archbishop Wilton D. Gregory will celebrate the Mass.

Marist School, Atlanta, will hold its graduation ceremony on Saturday, May 23, at 2 p.m. in the Centennial Center on the school’s campus, 3790 Ashford Dunwoody Road, Atlanta. The valedictorian is Stephen C. Grugett, and the salutatorian is Timothy D. Connolly. Both students worship at Our Lady of the Assumption Church, Atlanta. The guest speaker at graduation is John B. Attanasio, Marist class of 1972, law professor and dean at the Dedman School of Law at Southern Methodist University.

Pinecrest Academy, Cumming, will celebrate the baccalaureate Mass and hold graduation on Saturday, May 30, at 10 a.m. in the school gymnasium. The school is at 955 Peachtree Parkway, Cumming. The valedictorian for the boys school is Roberto Ocon, and the salutatorian is Rob Herd. Ocon attends St. Thomas Aquinas Church, Alpharetta, and Herd attends St. Joseph Church, Dalton. The valedictorian for the girls school is Margot Howard, and the salutatorian is Molly Shinners. They both attend St. Benedict Church, Duluth.

Holy Spirit Preparatory School, Atlanta, will celebrate the baccalaureate Mass and hold the graduate luncheon and graduation on Tuesday, May 26, beginning at 10 a.m. Ceremonies are at Holy Spirit Church, 4465 Northside Drive, Atlanta. The valedictorian and salutatorian had not been announced by press time.
