Magnificat Speaker Serves In Retreat, Marriage Ministry

Published April 3, 2008

The quarterly breakfast for Catholic women will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Killian Hall, 908 Killian Hill Road, Lilburn.

All women are invited to take part in this morning of friendship, prayer and socializing with others who want to deepen their faith. It is a time of refreshment and spiritual revitalization for women in a relaxed atmosphere.

Tate will speak about how her life has unfolded through God’s faithfulness and the love of other people, leading her to serve God by combining her two great passions in life: her faith and her marriage.

For over 31 years, the Tates have served by preparing engaged couples for Catholic marriage. They recently published their own in-home marriage preparation manual in conjunction with the Diocese of Baton Rouge, La. Married for 36 years they have five children and 10 grandchildren.

She says that God has drawn her to himself with “human cords” by continually placing people in her life to love her and call forth the best that is in her. A graduate of Loyola University in communications, she worked for 12 years with the mother-daughter and father-son program sponsored by the Family Life Apostolate for the Archdiocese of New Orleans. Now that she is a trained spiritual director on the staff of the Archdiocesan Spirituality Center, she finds herself called to honor the Lord by being part of the spiritual journeys of others.

Magnificat is an international ministry to Catholic women inspired by the friendship between Mary and Elizabeth and their spirit of gratitude and praise of God. At each Magnificat there is an opportunity to hear one woman’s experience of the transforming love of Christ in her own life. In addition to the speaker’s presentation, there is a time of intercessory prayer and an opportunity to receive the sacrament of reconciliation afterward. The Atlanta Joyful Visitation chapter of Magnificat has been hosting quarterly breakfasts for women for over 15 years.

The cost is $10 per person and reservations are made in advance from April 6-26 in order to plan the breakfast. To make a reservation, please send your name, address, telephone number and parish name, along with a check payable to Magnificat Joyful Visitation, by April 26 to Lynda Cupell, 2140 Briarwillow Drive, Atlanta, GA 30345. No tickets are used. Those with reservations will check in at the door the day of the breakfast. However, no new reservations can be taken at the door.

Priests and religious are invited to the Magnificat breakfast on a complimentary basis, but reservations are still requested for planning purposes.

There is no child care available. Since the day is designed to speak to the hearts of women free of distractions, it is respectfully requested that young children not be in attendance. Those attending are encouraged to carpool and arrive early. Catholic books and religious articles are available for sale before and after the meal.
