St. Pius Boys, Girls Tennis Teams Earn Number 1 Seeds

The St. Pius X boys varsity tennis team also won their match over Marist School. The number one doubles team of sophomore William Broder and junior Taylor Place won their match 6-2, 6-4. The number two doubles team of junior Ben McTier and freshman John DeRosa also battled to a two-set victory of 6-2, 6-4. The outcome of the match hinged on number one singles player, junior James Zaher, who was battling Marist’s highly ranked player Andrew Mulick. The players split the first two sets, so the match came down to the third and final set. Zaher clinched the set, 6-0, sending the Golden Lions home victorious. The boys also head into the region tournament as the number one seed.
