Marist School, Atlanta, had not lost a home game since the second game of the 2006 season, Sept. 8, 2006, a three-point loss to Tucker High School. In fact, before last Friday’s game Marist had compiled a home record of 68-3 going back to 1997. It took an overtime win to do it, but on Nov. 2, Marist was defeated by Mays High School 23-17. Marist (7-2) takes on cross-town rival St. Pius X High School (7-2) at home Friday, Nov. 9.

Blessed Trinity High School, Roswell, won its second game in a row with a 24-10 victory over North Atlanta High School. Junior running back Sam Burkhalter led the Blessed Trinity offense with 101 yards on 22 carries and two touchdowns. That brings his rushing yards to 1,063 for the season. One of the highlights of the game was a 51-yard field goal by Blessed Trinity kicker Garrett Jack to tie the score at 10 before the half. The Blessed Trinity defensive unit was led by linebacker Matt Maloney with 15 tackles and defensive back Jake Skole with 11 tackles. Blessed Trinity (6-3) faces Grady High School (6-3) Friday, Nov. 9 at Lakewood Stadium, Atlanta.

Holy Spirit Preparatory School, Atlanta, posted its third shutout and recorded a season-high score in a 48-0 rout of Mt. Vernon Presbyterian School. Holy Spirit (7-2) travels to Cumming to meet Pinecrest Academy (8-2) Friday, Nov. 9.

With a 43-18 road loss to Fellowship Christian School, Our Lady of Mercy High School, Fairburn, fell to 4-5 and lost two in a row. Junior quarterback William Pearl completed 14 of his 18 passes for 153 yards and one touchdown. Wide receiver Dominique McDermott had 131 yards rushing and his teammate David Goemaere had 64 yards receiving to lead the Mercy offense. Mercy plays its final game on the road against Fairburn rival Landmark Christian School (5-4) Friday, Nov. 9.

Pinecrest Academy, Cumming, extended its winning streak to seven games with a 19-6 win over Briarwood Academy. Pinecrest (8-2) will play host to Atlanta’s Holy Spirit Preparatory School (7-2) Friday, Nov. 9.

St. Pius X High School, Atlanta, has tied its longest winning streak of the season by edging out Miller Grove High School 25-20. The game hung in the balance until the closing 1:20 of the game, and that’s when the St. Pius defense held the Miller Grove offense on downs. Senior defensive tackle Javod Sewell, senior linebacker Greg Foster, junior defensive back Matt Pierce, senior safety Patrick Nilan and sophomore linebacker Robert Lucisano led the defensive unit with a combined 45 tackles. The team’s leading rushers included sophomore fullback Cole Moon (26 carries for 185 yards and one TD), junior tailback JC Carter (14 carries for 144 yards and one TD) and senior quarterback Dylan Knight (13 carries for 103 yards and one TD). In their final regular season game St. Pius (7-2) goes on the road to play Marist (7-2) Friday, Nov. 9.
