St. Pius Presents ‘Wonderful World Of Children’
Published September 27, 2007
The “Pius Players” theater company will perform “The Wonderful World of Children,” a musical revue based on a variety of classic children’s stories. Performances take place Oct. 11-14 at the Monsignor Terry W. Young Center for the Performing Arts on the St. Pius X High School campus, 2674 Johnson Road, NE.
The production, led by writer/director Bonnie Spark, assistant director Alex Ciccarelli and musical director Paul Tate, features a librarian guiding the audience through a fantastical showcase of books that have been adapted as musicals, including “Oliver Twist,” “The Secret Garden,” “Little Orphan Annie,” “The Wizard of Oz” and more.
“It doesn’t matter if you’re young or young at heart, or if you’re hearing these stories for the first time or the twentieth, ‘The Wonderful World of Children’ will tap into a very happy and musical place in the hearts of our audience,” said Spark. “I couldn’t be more proud of all the hard work our students have put into this production.”
Performances take place at 7 p.m. Oct. 11-12, 1:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. Oct. 13, and 2 p.m. Oct. 14. Tickets are $8 and can be purchased at the school cafeteria from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., Monday through Friday. If still available, tickets will be sold at the door before each performance.
