St. Brigid Boys Soccer Team Wins League Championship

Published December 1, 2005

The under-10 boys soccer team from St. Brigid Church is showing signs of success both on the soccer field and off.

The team recently won the Atlanta Metro Catholic League Championship.

And in addition to their winning soccer spirit, the team has helped work toward a victory for children’s cancer.

In lieu of the standard end-of-season coaches’ gifts, the team made a donation to the Coaches Curing Kids’ Cancer program in their coaches’ names. The money will go to fund pediatric cancer research and the coaches will receive a certificate of appreciation, as well as a Coaches Curing Kids’ Cancer T-shirt.

For the last four years, the St. Brigid team has participated in Coaches Curing Kids’ Cancer. Their participation is especially meaningful, as Andrew Appert, one of their fellow teammates, was diagnosed with cancer at age 5.
