Hispanic Youth To Begin World Youth Day Trip With Bilingual Mass

Archbishop Wilton D. Gregory will preside at a bilingual Mass on Tues., Aug. 9, at 7:30 p.m. at St. Thomas Aquinas Church to send forth the 48 Hispanic Catholics who will travel with the Office of Hispanic Ministry to World Youth Day in Cologne, Germany, and to Rome this month.

Leonardo Jaramillo, director of the archdiocesan “Pastoral Juvenil” (Spanish youth and young adult ministry) and a leader of the Hispanic young adult trip, encourages all pilgrims and their supporters to attend the Spanish and English Mass before departing for their trip Aug. 14-22. The pilgrims are mainly from the Archdiocese of Atlanta but also include a small number from Florida, California, Alabama, Chicago and Tennessee. Priests participating in the pilgrimage include Father Fabio Sotelo-Peña, Father Francisco Estrada and Father Jhon Jairo Mejía.
