Athens Fun Run Benefits St. Joseph School

St. Joseph School in Athens held its Fifth Annual 5K Jog and Fun Run on Saturday, Jan. 24. With 634 runners from ages 6-78, the race raised over $14,000 for the school. Additionally, $643 (one dollar from each entry plus donations) was donated in memory of Clute Nelson, a former St. Joseph student, to the Clute Barrow Nelson Children’s Center at St. Mary’s Health Care System in Athens.

Overall winners of the 5K were Sandy Campbell with a time of 19:43 and Alan Black with a time of 15:37. Master’s winners were Susan Adams with a time of 20:42 and Mike Guilbeau with a time of 17:29.

Sponsors of the event included St. Mary’s Health Care System, Heyward Allen, Medical Center Anesthesiology of Athens, Jessica and James Lee, Wachovia, Lamar Advertising, Athens Parent Magazine and Georgia Good Life Magazine.
