Cyclist Dick Marklein completed his cross-country trek to raise scholarship money for Cristo Rey Atlanta Jesuit High School.
That’s 52 Days and 3900 Miles.
The cyclist began on May 31st in San Francisco and ended in Portsmouth, N.H., where Marklein dipped his bike into the Atlantic Ocean.
The trip was the cyclists’ once in a lifetime goal. He posted, “I have been overwhelmed by the support and generosity for the Cycling for Cristo Rey Atlanta charity cause. This personal journey has been fulfilled by knowing each mile was cycled for some worthy students who will benefit so much by the Cristo Rey experience.
Thank you for all the prayers and inspiring support messages. Each one offered me that extra boost of energy and morale that I needed along the way.”
The Atlantic wasn’t the end of the trip, however. He reported going a few extra miles into Maine where ice cream was on the menu.
As of last report, the cyclists efforts raised $13,200 for scholarships for the school which serves students from working class backgrounds.
