It’s a good thing I rarely clear my desktop. I found these two photos – award-winning they are not – about the historical day of Feb. 28, 2013.
That is the day Pope emeritus Benedict XVI stepped down and the Catholic Church entered the period of sede vacante
The first photo is my desk as I watched the proceedings and followed along the Catholic News Service blog.
The second is of Archbishop Wilton D. Gregory, on the right, and Auxiliary Bishop Luis R. Zarama, left, watching the TV coverage. (They delayed the start of some committee meeting to watch the proceedings, so the man in the middle, whose name escapes me, just happened to be in the conference room.) -Andrew
