Observations Through the Lens

Published February 7, 2013

On Wednesday morning, Feb. 6, my first assignment took me to St. Pius X High School, Atlanta, where I had to photograph one of the 2013 teacher honorees for the Archdiocese of Atlanta’s Office of Catholic Schools.

It was a foggy morning, which prompted me to stop and take a photo of the school’s baseball field, the Seaver Family Sports Complex. Let’s just say it was a foggy “field of dreams.”
This is looking from the pitcher’s mound out to center field.

This looking from the right field foul pole, some
                                   320 feet from home plate.

The second photo presents the following question. Is it the sole or soul of the man that makes him worthy to be a permanent deacon in the Archdiocese of Atlanta?
Permanent diaconate ordination candidates prostrate themselves on
the altar during the Feb. 2 ordination.
This and other questions will be answered in the Feb. 14 issue of The Georgia Bulletin in an article about the archdiocese’s 12 newest deacons. Stay tuned.
