THOMAS MERTON BOOK GROUP
Published February 1, 2026
THOMAS MERTON BOOK GROUP: Tuesday evenings; 7-8:30 p.m.; Virtual meetings. The St. Ann’s Thomas Merton book group is reading his “Conjectures of a Guilty Bystander.” This is Merton at his best, detached but not unpassionate, humorous yet sensitive, alive and searching, with a gift for language that has made him one of the most widely read and influential spiritual writers of our time. The Thomas Merton Book Group meetings are remote and meet once a month. At each meeting, the group agrees to the next meeting date. Many of Merton’s books are organized into sections and do not have to be read from beginning to end. As a result, someone can join the group at any time. Contact: Bud Treanor, bud@treanor.org.
