Sister Peggy Ryan, OP, marks jubilee

SINSINAWA, Wis.—Sister Peggy Ryan, OP, will mark her 40th jubilee in 2023. A Mass will be held Sunday, Oct. 8, for her and three other Sinsinawa Dominican Sisters celebrating 40 years.

Sister Peggy’s home parish is in the Chicago Archdiocese. She is the daughter of the late Charles and Elizabeth (Barton) Ryan. Sister Peggy’s ministry has been dedicated to social work and theology. 

In the Archdiocese of Atlanta, Sister Peggy ministered as a family therapist at Families First, Atlanta, from 1993 to 1995, and as a mental health professional and clinical social worker at Caminar Latino in Doraville from 1999 to 2003.  

She then served in the Archdiocese of Milwaukee as an advocate for Spanish-speaking parents and students and a social worker at Dominican High School, Whitefish Bay, 2010-2014.   

Sister Peggy is currently ministering as faculty at Dominican University in the school of social work, River Forest, Illinois. She has also ministered in Texas, Alabama and California as well as Bolivia.
