Woodstock Knights support Empower Cherokee

Published May 12, 2023

WOODSTOCK—The Knights of Columbus Council 11768 at St. Michael the Archangel Church marked a successful year.

The council collected over $20,000 for people with disabilities during this fraternal year. The Georgia State Knights of Columbus received $6,000 of the collected funds to be distributed to charities in Georgia.

Members of Knights of Columbus Council 11768 at St. Michael the Archangel Church worked to financially support Empower Cherokee, a local nonprofit aiding people with disabilities.

At a recent business meeting, Knights presented Jonathan Francher, the executive director of Empower Cherokee, with a check for more than $14,000.

Empower Cherokee’s mission is to assist people with intellectual and developmental disabilities to live life as they define it through employment and social connections, and to offer the support necessary for each person to achieve their hopes and dreams.

While many Knights contributed to these great causes, Rick Highers was saluted for his leadership and dedication in leading this program for the council.
