ATLANTA—Catholic schools in the Archdiocese of Atlanta will host fine arts performances such as fall plays, musicals, band concerts, dance performances and Christmas concerts from October thru December.   

“Contact with beauty always lifts us up and helps us go beyond,” said Pope Francis in a February address to the Diakonia of Beauty, an organization that offers support to professional artists. “Enlivening and sustaining faith, art is a pathway to go to the Lord.”

Music Under the Stars: Sat, Oct. 22; 6 p.m.; Holy Spirit Preparatory School, 4449 Northside Drive, Atlanta. This is an outdoor, Chastain-style concert. Bring a picnic, decorate your table (there is a centerpiece contest) and enjoy performances by the student musicians and the headliner, the 3rd Stream Big Band—a professional big band performing music representing multiple styles and genres. Fall Concert and Art Show: Thu, Nov. 3; 6 p.m.; Holy Spirit Preparatory School, 4449 Northside Drive, Atlanta. A night of beautiful music performed by the Performing Arts Department. Musical ensembles include the school’s choir, orchestra, wind symphony and jazz combo.  Student artwork will be on display. Christmas Spectacular: Fri, Dec. 9; 6 p.m.; Holy Spirit Preparatory School, 4449 Northside Drive, Atlanta. This all-school celebration will begin with music performances featuring elementary music classes; beginning, concert and symphonic bands; symphonic winds and wind symphony and all school choirs. At the conclusion of the performance, guests are invited to visit the “North Pole” (Liberal Arts Building) where they may stroll through the festive hallways, view student artwork, enjoy hot cocoa, Christmas cookies and other desserts.
