Remembering Deacon Scott Parker

SENOIA—Deacon Donald “Scott” Parker of Senoia died Friday, June 11. He was 64 years old.

He was ordained a deacon in 2009 by then-Archbishop Wilton D. Gregory. He served at St. Gabriel Church, Fayetteville, and St. Mary Magdalene Church, Newnan.

Deacon Parker served in the United States Navy for more than 22 years. He was a special education teacher at East Coweta High School for seven years.

He was preceded in death by his father Hugh Hudson Parker; mother Mary Lynn Morris Walker, stepfather Robert Walker, sister Cindy Parker and father-in-law, Manuel Montano.

He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Rosa Montano-Parker of Senoia; daughter Angela Parker and her partner, James, of Senoia; daughter Sarah Chappell and her husband, Matthew, of Athens; sons Christopher Parker of San Diego, California; Matthew Parker and his wife, Mary Jo, of Jacksonville, North Carolina; sister Vickie Pugh; brothers Joseph Parker and his partner, Ben, and Trevor Parker; grandchildren Christopher, Kayla, Terry, Deanna, Savanna, Lucas, Penny, Lily Anna, Jeremiah, Liam, Waylon, Tucker, Krystal, Kevin; great-grandson, Waylon; mother-in-law, Mary Montano; sisters-in-law Ana Montano, Patty Lindhart and husband, Joseph and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life Mass was June 17 at St. Mary Magdalene Church. A private family inurnment will be at Honey Creek Woodlands.
