St. Pius X volleyball team defends home court

ATLANTA—St. Pius X defeated Alpharetta’s Chattahoochee High School Aug. 24 in three straight sets (25-15, 25-11, 25-9). St. Pius had 39 kills, 16 aces and 36 digs in three sets of play.

Seniors Katie Parnell and Clare Naughton led the team with eight kills apiece, followed by six each from seniors Caroline Guynn and Chloe Anderton. Junior Alexis Scoggins served up six of the team’s aces to lead the way in that category.

As of press time St. Pius’ record stands at 6-2 with a two-game winning streak. In upcoming matches, they take on Johns Creek and Decatur high schools Sept. 1.
