‘Painting It Forward’ for CURE Childhood Cancer

Published September 1, 2016

JOHNS CREEK—“Painting It Forward,” to be held on Sunday, Sept. 11, at Holy Redeemer School, will mark the third anniversary of Caring Canvases. Holy Redeemer is located at 3380 Old Alabama Road in Johns Creek. The event will be from 2-5:30 p.m. in the school’s cafeteria.

All proceeds will be donated to CURE Childhood Cancer. Participants will have the opportunity to create an inspirational piece of art to give to someone having a challenging time or to be donated to a child fighting cancer.

Tickets are $30 (plus processing fee) per person. Participants can register online through Eventbrite. Tickets are limited to 100, and advance registration is required.

Eileen Sirica Cardillo founded Caring Canvases, a ministry with a mission to spread positive messages in the community through uplifting art.

Guest speakers for “Painting It Forward” will be childhood cancer survivor Kennedy Cobble and her mother, Kathy.

Together, the Cobbles are tireless advocates for childhood cancer awareness and will share their courageous journeys.

Since Sept. 11 is the 15th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks, the event will begin with a patriotic remembrance and tribute. There will also be a silent auction and raffle, door prizes, giveaways and light refreshments.

Through Caring Canvases, individuals in the Atlanta area have created approximately 1,000 inspirational pieces of art in the last three years. Most of the participants have had little to no art experience.

The beautiful canvases, marked “created with love,” continue to touch many lives and have been donated to several charitable organizations in Atlanta and around the world.

Visit the Caring Canvases tab at or for information about the organizations receiving donated artwork.

Last September, Caring Canvases donated more than $1,650 in event proceeds to CURE Childhood Cancer at its second anniversary event.
