JOHNS CREEK—“The Door of Mercy: Crossing the Threshold” is an Advent parish mission that will be held nightly from Nov. 30 to Dec. 2 at St. Benedict Church, 11045 Parsons Road, Johns Creek. Speaker Stephen J. Binz will lead the mission each evening at 7:30 p.m. to help people prepare for the opening of the Year of Mercy proclaimed by Pope Francis and beginning Dec. 8. All are invited to attend the mission.

Binz is an author, biblical scholar, psychotherapist and speaker. He has developed Bible studies in the church for three decades after graduate study at the Gregorian University, Pontifical Biblical Institute in Rome and the Hebrew University in Jerusalem. He has led many study trips and pilgrimages to biblical lands. Binz and his wife, Pamela, live in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

Topics for the mission are “The Divine Mercy of our God,” “The Sacred Heart of Jesus,” and “The Spiritual and Corporal Works of Mercy.”

The last night includes a service project to benefit the Missionaries of Charity at the Gift of Grace House in Atlanta. Sisters care for the sick and help refugee families. Donations of personal hygiene items, laundry soap, tissues and toilet paper will be accepted that evening for the sisters.
