New Bible study on Letter of James offered for women

Published September 17, 2015

ATLANTA—“Oh, so relevant today is the Letter of James,” Keri Allen, presenter of Proclaim My Word ministry, said. “This letter was written to Christians who were under persecution and having trouble remaining faithful.”

“Does Your Faith Work?” is the title of this life application Bible study on St. James’ letter, which will be presented by Allen at Holy Spirit Church, Atlanta, on Thursdays from Oct. 1 to Nov. 19.

This fall study “is rich in guidance for us and about becoming a more authentic Christian,” Allen said. “A Christian who is a ‘doer of the word’ and not just ‘hearer.’”

She said that St. James addresses the critical balance of faith versus works, the importance of being in God’s Word and living in it, growing closer to God and his Son, how to resist temptations and worldliness, not to judge, to use one’s resources, and how to use one’s words.

Allen invites all the women of the archdiocese to come and nurture their faith at the eight-week study, to be held on Thursday mornings from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Homework is optional. Nursery is available upon request for children six months to three years of age; birth certificates and vaccinations forms are required and presented on the first day.

There is no charge for attendance or materials. Free will offerings are accepted to help fund the program.
