Published September 17, 2015

ATLANTA—St. Vincent de Paul Georgia will honor three community leaders with its inaugural “Hope in Action Awards.”

The awards will be given at its eighth annual Evening for Hope gala on Saturday, Oct. 17, at the Renaissance Waverly Atlanta hotel.

The Catholic organization will be honoring community leaders in celebration of their courage and commitment in delivering hope to families and individuals in need, according to their Facebook page. Honorees include Bill Bolling, the retired founder of the Atlanta Community Food Bank; Russ Spencer, TV news anchor at Fox 5 News Atlanta; and Myrtle Davis, an independent public policy professional.

The gala evening begins with Mass at 5 p.m., celebrated by Archbishop Wilton D. Gregory. Beginning at 6:15 p.m., the event continues with cocktails and a silent auction, followed at 7 p.m. with dinner and dancing.

The Renaissance Waverly Atlanta hotel is located at the Galleria Specialty Mall, 2450 Galleria Parkway, Atlanta.

St. Vincent de Paul Georgia operates four family support centers, 12 thrift stores, and 40 client choice food pantries. In the last fiscal year, the organization provided more than $6.9 million in direct aid to clients in need. In addition to providing the resources and assistance that address immediate needs, the nonprofit works with clients to achieve self-sufficiency.
