ATLANTA—Exactly one month before his 19th birthday on Oct. 4, Jake Henderson, a 2014 graduate of St. Pius X High School, Atlanta, received a scholarship to play lacrosse for the Cavaliers of St. Gregory University in Shawnee, Oklahoma. The 6-foot-2 Henderson will play the attack and midfielder positions for the Cavaliers.

Henderson played lacrosse for St. Pius X during his sophomore, junior and senior years. He also played with a North Georgia Indoor Lacrosse League team that won the state championship in 2013. In addition to lacrosse, Henderson was a member of the St. Pius X water polo team, including its 2010 and 2012 championship teams.

Henderson’s Catholic education extends back to his primary schooling at St. John Neumann Regional School in Lilburn, where he attended kindergarten through eighth grade. He is the son of Mark and Mary Henderson, longtime members of St. Patrick Church in Norcross.

St. Gregory University, the only Catholic university in Oklahoma, was founded in 1875 by Benedictine monks.
