The pastor at St. Anna Church, in Monroe, wearing a jersey with “Fr. Dan” across the back, pitched a strike at Lawrenceville’s Coolray Field on Friday, Aug. 8, at the Triple A matchup between the Norfolk Tides and the hometown Gwinnett Braves.

St. Anna’s Knights of Columbus, sponsored the third annual “Braves Night” at Coolray Field with a tailgate party before the game for more than 150 church attendees. Bob Costantino, grand knight of council 14425, presented a commemorative Braves jersey and baseball cap to the pastor to wear on the mound when he tossed the first pitch.

According to witnesses, Father Dan’s pitch wowed the fans. Some speculated if he’d win a spot on the team roster. Questionable weather didn’t stop the tailgate festivities with delicious food, drinks and games. The youth group with their parents was well represented at the baseball game.
