20-year monument rededicated in Carrollton

Published March 6, 2014

Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, in Carrollton, in 1994 dedicated “a memorial for the unborn” in the parish cemetery. Knights of Columbus Councils 8731 and 10821 together erected the memorial.

On Jan. 25, the councils again came together, along with the honor guard provided by Mother Teresa Assembly 2562, to rededicate the memorial.

Mass was celebrated by Msgr. Hugh Marren, the pastor of All Saints Church, in Dunwoody, in addition to Conventual Franciscan Father Jude Krill and Father John Voytek, who serve at St. John Vianney, in Lithia Springs, and Father Raphael Carballo, pastor of Our Lady of Perpetual Help.

Grand knights from both councils, Mike Hollman, Council 10821, and Bill Maddox, Council 8731, also attended.

After Mass, people visited the memorial and saw a slideshow from the initial dedication 20 years ago.

Donated baby shower items were collected for pregnancy resource centers in Douglasville and Carrollton.
