Annual celebration planned for Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

ATLANTA—The annual weekend celebrating the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. will be held in the Atlanta Archdiocese on Jan. 16, 18-19. The theme of the weekend is “The Content of Their Character: Made in the Image and Likeness of God—Remembering the 16th Street Baptist Church Four Little Girls and the Martyrs of the Civil Rights Era.”
On Thursday, Jan. 16, at 7 p.m. young adults of the archdiocese are invited to participate in a service opportunity at Lyke House: The Catholic Center at Atlanta University Center, 809 Beckwith St., SW, Atlanta.
Archbishop Wilton D. Gregory will be the celebrant and homilist for the Mass on Saturday, Jan. 18, at 1 p.m. at the Shrine of the Immaculate Conception. The Shrine is located at 48 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, SW, Atlanta. All are invited to attend.
In addition there will be a Youth Celebration held on Sunday, Jan. 19, at 3 p.m. at St. Peter Claver Regional School, 2560 Tilson Road, Decatur.
