St. Pius band wins in Cumming competition

The St. Pius High School Marching Golden Lions band earned a third place overall at the 2013 Wolverine Classic competition, held Sept. 28 in Cumming.

The St. Pius High School Marching Golden Lions band earned a third place overall at the 2013 Wolverine Classic competition, held Sept. 28 in Cumming.

The St. Pius X High School Marching Golden Lions band performance earned high honors at the 2013 Wolverine Classic marching band competition, held in Cumming.

The band came in third place overall against 13 other school bands at the contest and was edged out of second place by less than a point.  The top prize went to Ringgold High School band, followed by Brookwood High School band.

In the silver division competition, St. Pius earned the top prize, besting seven other schools.

The band earned another top honor in its class 2A placement. The percussion section took first place, and the flagline and the drum major earned second place.

The competition was on Saturday, Sept. 28, and hosted by the West Forsyth High School Pride of the West Marching Band.
