Fightin’ Irish Dash to boost ND scholarships

Published September 12, 2013

All you fans of Notre Dame football, don’t just cheer for the team. Now you can help a Domer by lacing up your running shoes.

The Notre Dame Atlanta Fightin’ Irish Dash 5K/10K is to take place on Saturday, Oct. 5, at 8 a.m. at Cochran Shoals Park, 5450 Interstate North Parkway, Sandy Springs.

Both courses are out and back, starting and finishing at the same point, and use beautiful park paths along the Chattahoochee River that are flat and fast.

It’s the third annual event, which is part of the scholarship fundraising of the Notre Dame Atlanta Club. In total, the club has raised more than $300,000 in scholarships. Currently, eight Notre Dame students from Atlanta are getting $3,000 apiece for their four years.

This year there is also an Irish Dash support package for non-runners, consisting of an event T-shirt plus raffle tickets for an autographed Ara Parseghian football and other Notre Dame memorabilia and two tickets for this year’s Notre Dame-USC game or multiple cash prizes.
