St. Mary School Junior Beta Club recently accepted 25 fifth-graders and two sixth-graders.

The National Beta Club, open to students from 5th to 12th grades, promotes academic achievement, character, leadership and service. Its motto is “Let Us Lead by Serving Others.”

The newest members are: Audrey McFall, Alex Kirby, Walter Echanique, Logan Sheets, Lucas Hua, Sarah Sutphin, Lauren Wilkes, Ashlee Bailey, Abigail Yerke, Kelley Anne Smith, Gloria Murray, Caroline Black, Abbie Vaughn, Chandler Robinson, JC Tan, Gilliane Conklin, Ivy Le, Haley Chandler, Maggie Hawkins, Lily Huynh, Conor Hughes, Gabriel Jones, Ryan Acree, Gary Jones, Ty Wilcox, and John Lucas Todd.

Kelly Armstrong is the moderator of the St. Mary’s Beta Club. The school stresses service as part of the curriculum, so the Beta Club serves as a great way to expand our older students’ commitment to service, she said.

Induction into the St. Mary’s Beta Club is based on excellence in academic performance and conduct.
