Holiday Favorite To Appear On Georgia Public Broadcasting

Published December 20, 2012

The Atlanta Celtic Christmas Concert will be on TV, said James Flannery, the director of the W.B. Yeats Foundation and a retired professor from Emory University.

Georgia Public Broadcasting (GPB) will be featuring the Emmy Award-winning film of the Atlanta Celtic Christmas Concert as a primetime Christmas special broadcast throughout the state on December 23 at 8 p.m.

The concert aired on GPB last Christmas and won the 2012 Southeast Emmy Award for Outstanding Achievement in Arts and Entertainment, Flannery said.

There are a few changes to this Christmas broadcast, including an interview with Nobel Laureate Seamus Heaney concerning the inspiration for his poem, “St. Kevin and the Blackbird,” and new musical pieces that link the Celtic lands and the American South, among other additions.
