Published November 22, 2012

Supporters of all shapes and sizes turned out for a fundraising 5K race at Transfiguration Church, Marietta. Parishioners from Transfiguration Church and the local Marietta community took to the streets on Nov. 3 to support a mission trip.

More than 200 walkers and runners of all levels came out for the second annual Mission Run over the 3.1-mile course.

The mission group includes 20 high school seniors and adult chaperones, who will work with the organization Amigos for Christ, serving God through labor and building relationships with the Nicaraguan people.

The fundraiser brought out a variety of people. The youngest person participating was 7, and the oldest was Mary Morrison, 83, who finished the 3K-walk option. The fastest runners were Nicholas Wooten, 14, at 19:36 and the female winner, Bailie McInnis, 13, at 24:42.

The community event was helped by volunteers and members of Knights of Columbus Council 10362.
