Legionary Brother Ordained At Pinecrest

Published August 2, 2012

Legionary of Christ Brother Ronald Conklin was ordained to the transitional diaconate June 24, the feast day of John the Baptist, by Archbishop Wilton D. Gregory.  The ordination took place in the chapel at Pinecrest Academy.

Originally from Temperance, Mich., Brother Conklin joined the Legion in 2000.

After high school, he entered the Regnum Christi Mission Corps program and served a year in Mexico. He studied classical humanities for two years in Salamanca, Spain, where he served for a three-year apostolic internship as an assistant to the instructor of novices. He continued his studies in Thornwood, N.Y., where he also served as an assistant to the rector. He continued with theology studies in Rome for a year, returning to Thornwood, where he was vice-rector. Most recently, he served as dean of students at Immaculate Conception Apostolic School in New Hampshire.

Brother Conklin said, “Ordination is a massive responsibility and commitment, and that makes one shiver. But when you know that God is asking it of you, there is nothing to fear.”

The new deacon will be ordained in December 2012.
