Father Anthony Tran Van Kiem Dies At 92

Father Anthony Tran Van Kiem died on June 16 at Emory University Hospital.  Father Kiem was 92 years old and a priest for 62 years.

Father Kiem was born on Dec. 31, 1920 in Phat Diem, Vietnam, and was ordained a priest on June 29, 1946 for the Diocese of Phat Diem. He was incardinated into the Diocese of Pensacola-Tallahassee, Fla., in 1975 and retired in 1991 in Seadrift, Texas, where he lived until 2006 when he moved to Atlanta.

A vigil service took place on Sunday, June 17, at Our Lady of Vietnam Church in Riverdale, followed by an overnight vigil of prayer, and the funeral Mass was celebrated there on Monday, June 18. Burial and a graveside service followed at Sherwood Cemetery.
