Conyers Monastery To Hold Third Annual 5K

The annual Monastery 5K returns to the Monastery of the Holy Spirit on Saturday, June 16. Runners and walkers will have a unique opportunity to trek through rarely visited areas on the Monastery grounds. The 5K will be a timed event using chip technology in the bib tag. New this year is the Family Fun Run, which will be a family-friendly1-mile run/walk.

All are invited to join the monks for morning prayer and Mass, beginning at 7 a.m. Registration and check-in will be from 7-8 a.m. The 5K will begin promptly at 8:15 a.m., and the Family Fun Run at 9 a.m. Those planning to attend morning prayer and Mass are asked to come early for check-in.

An awards ceremony will take place at 9:30 a.m. Awards will be presented to the top three men and women overall, first master’s male and female overall, and the top three in each of various male and female age groups.

Following the races, participants and guests are invited to enjoy refreshments and explore various places on the Monastery grounds.

Entry fees for the Monastery 5K are $25 for early registration before June 1 and $30 for entries after June 1 and the day of the race. There is a $10 entry fee for the 1-Mile Fun Run. Registration includes a commemorative T-shirt and souvenir race bib. Proceeds will benefit the Monastery of the Holy Spirit and its food bank outreach.
