The 17,000-square-foot museum incorporates both new and renovated monastery structures and features videos, interactive displays, and historical exhibits.
The public is invited to tour the museum and monastery grounds including the abbey church, bonsai garden and prayer walk. Additionally, the Atlanta Sacred Chorale will perform a 90-minute evening concert in the church.
Activities will be ongoing throughout the day. There will be hayrides and petting zoo. Tastings of abbey store products will take place in the marketplace. Various authors, including published monk-writers, will be signing books.
The open house is free and begins at 10 a.m. Tickets to the
7 p.m. concert are $20 for adults and $15 for seniors and students. A portion of the proceeds will support the monastery’s food bank serving the poor of the surrounding area.
