Gambian Community Celebrates ‘Sang Marie’

Published September 15, 2011

The Gambia Christians Organization (GCO) celebrated the feast of the Assumption—a national holiday called Sang Marie in Gambia—recently at Christ Our Hope Church, Lithonia. Their community is based at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, Atlanta.

GCO, with over 60 members, was created in 1993 and is open to all Gambian Christians.

The group meets once a month for meetings and gathers on major feast days to pray, celebrate and bond in fellowship.

More information about GCO is available at the group’s website, www.gco-atlanta.org
