Deacon Pat O’Connor Dies

A native of Emporia, Kan., Deacon O’Connor served as a permanent deacon at St. Catherine of Siena Church in Kennesaw for over 20 years. He was ordained on June 24, 1989, as part of a large class of men ordained to the diaconate that year.

He is survived by his wife, Doris; his children, Tom and wife Aida O’Connor of Lawrenceville; Mike and wife Billie O’Connor of Acworth; Dan and wife Marina O’Connor of Scurry, Texas; Sharon Trussell of Acworth; and Gayle and husband Larry Reynolds of Shreveport, La.; two brothers, James, of Overland Park, Kan., and Dennis of Plymouth, Minn.; three sisters, Kareen Wormington of Overland Park, Beth Tilling of Lee’s Summit, Mo., and Sharon Potts of Overland Park; 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

The funeral Mass for Deacon O’Connor was celebrated by Father John Matejek, pastor of St. Catherine’s, on Friday, Aug. 19.
