Linda Smith To Speak At Magnificat April 30

Published March 31, 2011

Linda Smith, a member of Holy Trinity Church in Peachtree City, will be the featured speaker at the Magnificat breakfast for women on Saturday, April 30.

All women are invited to attend.  The breakfast will take place from

9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Killian Hall, 908 Killian Hill Road, Lilburn. The event includes music, prayer, the meal, the speaker’s talk on the transforming love of Christ in her own life, and a time of friendship and fellowship with other women.

Doors open 30 minutes beforehand. After the meal there is an opportunity to receive the sacrament of reconciliation or individual prayer.

Linda’s story of growing in faith has been one of learning to trust in God in all circumstances. As a teenager she came to know the love of God and the power of prayer in the illness and miraculous recovery of her father. When she received the baptism of the Holy Spirit at a Life in the Spirit seminar in 1983, a flame was ignited within her, giving her a desire to know God more deeply, a hunger for Scripture and a desire to encourage and pray with people.

She and her husband, Richard, belong to Holy Trinity Church where she is director of a healing and prayer ministry and leader of the Power of Praise prayer group. Her commitment to serving others and her consistent witness to God has brought her into leading Bible studies and Life in the Spirit seminars and serving the archdiocesan Catholic charismatic renewal.

She currently is on the staff at the Catholic Center at Emory University.

Magnificat, a worldwide Catholic ministry to women, is a private association within the Catholic Church that began in the Archdiocese of New Orleans and has local chapters. Women are urged to come and to bring a friend to rejoice in the presence of the Lord.

The ministry is based on the friendship between Mary and Elizabeth and offers women a morning away to share their faith and to be refreshed and restored in the presence of the Lord. Meals are held four times a year.

The cost of the breakfast is $10 per person. Reservations must be made in advance. In order to reserve a place, please send a reservation request with name, address, parish, contact information and check payable to Magnificat Joyful Visitation to Kathy Timony, 6170 Rachel Ridge, Norcross, GA 30092. Requests must be postmarked by April 20. No tickets are returned. Check-in will be at the door for those with reservations only. No new reservations are taken at the door.

Priests and religious are invited as guests of Magnificat, but reservations are still requested to plan the breakfast.

Since the day is designed to speak to the hearts of women free of distractions, it is respectfully requested that young children not be in attendance.

To receive invitations to Magnificat events by e-mail, please send a request to JoyfulVisitation@gmail.com and you will be added to the e-mail list.
