When Our Lady of Mercy High School defeated Southwest Atlanta Christian Academy 35-26 on homecoming night, Oct. 8, it reached a historic milestone by capturing more than four victories in a single season. Sophomore running back Rashard Fant led the offensive attack as he scored a touchdown in each quarter. Fant ran from six yards out in the first quarter, caught a pass from Mercy quarterback Lance McGuffie and ran for a 66-yard score in the second, ran back a kickoff return in the third for 86 yards and ran in a l3-yard reception from McGuffie in the fourth. Senior running back Greg Hadley led Mercy in rushing with 16 carries for 82 yards and one touchdown. On defense Cam Singletary had two interceptions, while Lake McGuffie and Pierce Vincent were the leading tacklers with nine and eight, respectively. Mercy (5-1) travels to Locust Grove to face Strong Rock Christian School, Friday, Oct. 15.

After consecutive losses to Greater Atlanta Christian and The Westminster School, Blessed Trinity High School, Roswell, took its frustration out on Jackson High School, Atlanta, with a 48-6 win. Blessed Trinity quarterback Spencer McManes ran for two touchdowns and passed for two to Sam Farmer and Ryan Cote. Running back Wes Fujihira and wide receiver Ricky Turner each had a rushing touchdown. The defense was led by linebackers Liam Walsh with 13 tackles and one interception and T.K. Thomas with 10 tackles. Blessed Trinity (4-2) will host Lovett (4-2) on Friday, Oct. 15.

For the second time this season, kicker Austin Hardin booted Marist School, Atlanta, to victory as he kicked a 35-yard field goal in overtime to defeat Lakeside DeKalb High School 6-3, Oct. 8.  Marist School (5-1) goes on the road once again to take on Dunwoody High School (2-4) Friday, Oct. 15.

St. Pius X High School, Atlanta, was idle Oct. 8, but the team seeks to extend its five-game winning streak on the road against Druid Hills High School (4-3) Friday, Oct. 15.
