BT Has Its Sights Set On State Volleyball Tourney

Blessed Trinity won the Area 7 A/AA championship in volleyball Oct. 7 by defeating Wesleyan School, Norcross, 3-1. The team rallied from behind to take game 2, and then won games 3 and 4.  The scores were 16-25, 26-24, 25-17, 25-18. Seniors Ali McAlvany and Meghan Morillo led the way with 25 assists each.  McAlvany also added 14 kills and 3 aces while Morillo had 16 kills and 1 ace. Eileen Hogan added 10 kills and led the team with 14 digs.

Morillo, Hogan and McAlvany were all named to the All-Area Team, and McAlvany was named Area Player of the Year.

Senior McKenna Smith recently broke her own record for blocks in a season and currently has 76 on the season. McAlvany leads the team with 354 kills, a 0.375 hitting efficiency and 99 aces. Morillo leads the team with 636 assists, and senior Megan Makuck leads the team with 439 digs.

Blessed Trinity (52-7) starts the state playoffs at home on Saturday, Oct. 16, against Providence Christian School, Lilburn.
