In the battle of the Paladins, Fellowship Christian School, Roswell, spoiled the softball season opener for Pinecrest Academy, a school that shares the same mascot. After Fellowship Christian scored four runs in the first inning, five in the second and two in the third, Pinecrest found themselves down 11-0.

In the fourth inning, Pinecrest pitcher Katerina Saker got three of her 11 strikeouts on the day to hold Fellowship scoreless. Pinecrest head coach Neva Samples rallied her team as they came up to bat.

“The game is not over. Put it in play and make them have to make a play. Make something happen. Believe in yourself,” said Coach Samples.

Fellowship walked lead-off batter Saker and the next batter blasted an RBI single to get Saker across for the first Pinecrest run. They would score five more runs before the fourth inning ended to make the score 11-6.

Fellowship added two more runs in the fifth and they went on to win the game 13-6 as their pitcher Kelsey O’Reilly held Pinecrest scoreless the rest of the way.
