Monastery Hosts First 5K Run

A unique view of rarely visited areas of the monastery grounds will open up for runners and walkers on Saturday morning, June 12, in the first 5K run/walk ever held at the Monastery of the Holy Spirit. Proceeds will benefit the monastery’s food bank outreach. View the beautiful landscape from a new perspective. The event is non-denominational and everyone is welcome.

Those who would like to may join the monastic community before the race at 7 a.m. in the historic abbey church for the Divine Office of Lauds or Morning Prayer. The community Mass immediately follows. The 5K run/walk will begin after Mass at 8 a.m.

Race check-in is at 7 a.m. or before Morning Prayer.

Pre-registration is $25 ($30 on the day of the race). Children under 12 run for free but will not receive a T-shirt. All runners must register prior to June 1 to be guaranteed a T-shirt. Signed waivers are required for all youth 18 and under. Awards will be presented for the overall top three male and female runners and the top two finishers in seven age groups.
