Deacon David Corbett, Of St. George Church, Dies

Deacon Dave Corbett was remembered as a good man, one who loved to serve in his parish of St. George Church, Newnan, greeted newcomers and carried a deep faith.

Deacon Corbett, who was 56, died on Monday, May 10, at Piedmont Newnan Hospital.

Friends recalled their experiences with Deacon Corbett on the online obituary with the McKoon Funeral Home.

Deacon Corbett lived in St. Louis, Mo., and Dallas, Texas, before he moved to Newnan. He was a devoted member of St. George Church. A father of three boys, he was ordained a deacon on February 4, 2006.

He was born August 10, 1953, in Springfield, MA, to Harold and Shirley Clark Corbett. He was preceded in death by his father, mother, and daughter, Eileen Clark Corbett.

The funeral Mass was held on Saturday, May 15, at St. George, with pastor Father Austin Fogarty officiating.

He is survived by his wife, Maria Dudenhoeffer Corbett; stepmother, Rosalie Corbett; children, Brian, Timothy and David; siblings, Carolyn Corbett, Mother Macaria Corbett, Patricia Murray, James Corbett, Theodore Corbett, Mary Katherine Corbett; and step-sisters, Mary Johnson, Sally Sheridan and Connie Shaw.

Memorial contributions in Deacon David Corbett’s honor can be made to the St. George chapter of St. Vincent de Paul Society.
