Honoring composers George Frideric Handel and Joseph Haydn, the University of Georgia choruses and symphony orchestra will perform two choral masterpieces in the Monastery of the Holy Spirit’s historic Abbey Church. The concert will be held on Sunday, Nov. 8, at 3:30 p.m. Admission is a free-will offering.

The groups will perform Handel’s “Dixit Dominus,” a piece for chamber choir, strings and continuo, which is made up of several movements ranging from solo arias to full choruses. Haydn’s “Harmoniemesse,” also known as the “Wind-Band” Mass for its use of woodwinds and brass, will be performed as well.

Performing at the concert will be the University of Georgia Concert Choir, Collegium Musicum, University Chorus and the Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Dr. Mitos Andaya.
