Monastery Concert To Benefit Food Ministry

Published November 27, 2008

Continuing an annual Christmas tradition, the Grammy-winning Atlanta Boy Choir will return to the Monastery of the Holy Spirit for its annual Christmas concert on Saturday, Dec. 6, at 6:30 p.m. All proceeds, after expenses, will benefit the monastery’s food bank outreach.

During the first portion of the concert, the choir will present a worship service of lessons and carols in the tradition of the one at King’s College in Cambridge, England. Brethren from the monastery will assist with readings from the Scripture with responsive carols and anthems performed by the choir.

The choir will also perform many favorite songs of the season, including Conyers’ largest 12 Days of Christmas sing-along. Enthusiasts of the season, particularly choral music, will not want to miss this very special evening.

General admission tickets are $25, and children 15 and under are $12.

Tickets can be purchased online by visiting the monastery Web site at www.trappist.net. Tickets are also on sale at the Abbey Store or by phone, Monday-Friday, 10 a.m.-5 p.m., at (770) 929-3488.
